Parent's Bulletin 24.04.2026

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are excited to share with you that we are hoping to have a KAPS PTFA next academic year, our 1st AGM will be on the 10th June at 2pm all parents are warmly welcome to attend. Do look out for further information below.

You will also notice a slight change to our bulletin this week- we are celebrating KAPS, the truly amazing experiences that happen in a week in our school really do enrich the lives of our school community. Do look out for our news and share in the children’s joy.

Our children have enjoyed the field this week in many ways, the new daily mile, playing at lunch time and of course as part of our truly fantastic Sports Week we have enjoyed together! We are blessed to have such an amazing space to enjoy. It has been wonderful to see our pupils embracing every opportunity to be active, challenge themselves, and, most importantly, support one another. From the excitement of team events to the determination shown in individual challenges, the week has been a celebration of effort, resilience, and joy.

Sports Week is about so much more than physical activity. It represents the values we hold at the heart of our school—perseverance, teamwork, respect, and self-belief. These values are deeply rooted in the Avanti Way, where we encourage our children to strive for excellence not only in their achievements but in their character. Whether winning or learning from setbacks, our pupils demonstrated humility, courage, and kindness throughout the week, making us all incredibly proud.

A huge thank you to our staff and families for your encouragement and support—it truly makes a difference in helping our children flourish.

Finally in this sporting week, you will notice in Celebrating KAPS our Y5/6 boys have made the football final- we will wait with bated breath to see if they can lift the trophy this season.  Well- done boys and Mr Williams for showing dedication, perseverance and a little luck.

Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Earth Day on 28th April. Children are invited to come to school dressed up in something that represents the wonders of the world, and they will be taking part in activities to learn about the importance of caring for our planet and how they can make a positive difference in the world around them. Y3 will be finishing the week with a performance at Avanti Fields to bring this week together.

With best wishes,

 Mrs Dolby- Molson

  PTFA

Dear Parents,

CAN YOU HELP US ? WE NEED YOU !

KAPS Leicester is putting together a PTFA (parents, teachers and friends association) which we hope to start in the new academic year.

We envisage our PTFA as committed and valued support to our school community; helping to organise fun, spirited initiatives that reflect our school ethos and give back to our wonderful school. Funds raised will go directly back into the school to provide resources and further enhance learning for our children.

If you are interested in finding out more or joining the PTFA, an initial AGM will be held on the 10th June 2026 at 2.00pm at school.

We would love to see as many parents as possible who are interested in getting involved, whether on an ad hoc basis or in a more regular role. Whatever time you are able to give will be greatly valued.

There are a number of positions  we need to make our PTFA successful, both lead and support roles, including Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-Chair, Vice-Treasurer and Communications Officer. These roles, along with other formalities, will be discussed further at the AGM. The location will be confirmed nearer the time.

Let’s get KAPS Leicester PTFA up and running!

Please use the school email (kapsleicester@avanti.org.uk) for any enquiries or speak to your year group parent champions for more information.

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Krishna Avanti is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Celebrating KAPS

Reception Trip to ISKON temple

Reception children had a wonderful and enriching visit to the ISKON temple, where they experienced important aspects of worship and culture. They took part in the aarti ceremony, observing the use of light, music, and devotion in prayer. The children also enjoyed a creative activity, making beautiful cards dedicated to Lord Krishna, which allowed them to reflect on what they had learned. To conclude the visit, they were offered prashad, helping them understand the significance of sharing blessed food. It was a memorable and meaningful outing for all.

Y5 & Y6 Boys Football Team updates

Congratulations to our KAPS Yr 5 and 6 Boys Football team for reaching the finals day for the Inspire Together Primary Football League! The semi-finals were a rollercoaster of emotions from one goal from elimination to qualifying with a dramatic last minute goal! Across the cold winter months, rain and standing on the sidelines in 5 layers, our boys reflected our core school values and belief in the Avanti Way. Their progression has been a result of consistency, hard work and self belief, with a thoroughly well deserved opportunity to lift a trophy in May!

Quidditch

The Year 2 Quidditch session was an exciting and energetic experience that introduced students to the basics of the magical sport in a fun and safe way. Children practiced balancing on broomsticks, aiming soft balls through hoops, and working together in small teams to build confidence and coordination. The session focused on teamwork, listening skills, and having fun, rather than competition, allowing every child to feel included and successful. Laughter and enthusiasm filled the tennis court as children imagined themselves as real Quidditch players, making the activity both engaging and memorable.

Jungle Jo

The children in Reception and KS1 took part in an exciting minibeast experience designed to deepen their understanding of insects, spiders, and other small creatures. Through hands-on activities and an interactive session, they explored different habitats, learnt about life cycles, and discovered the important role these creatures play in our ecosystem. This enriching opportunity supported the children’s curiosity about the natural world while encouraging observation, discussion, and scientific thinking. It was wonderful seeing the children and staff handling these creatures.

Our ELSA Room with Mrs B Patel

We are delighted to share and celebrate the wonderful work taking place in our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) room.

The ELSA provision supports children in developing their emotional awareness, resilience, and social skills in a safe, nurturing environment. Through planned sessions, pupils are given the opportunity to explore their feelings, build confidence, and learn strategies to help them manage everyday challenges.

Activities in the ELSA room may include:

  • Talking and listening activities to support emotional expression

  • Games and role-play to develop social skills

  • Creative tasks such as drawing, crafts, and storytelling

  • Relaxation and mindfulness techniques

Each session is tailored to meet the individual needs of the child, helping them feel supported and understood.

We are incredibly proud of the progress our pupils are making and the positive impact the ELSA room is having across the school.

If you would like to find out more about ELSA support, please feel free to contact the school.

SEND Reform Parent Briefing

Star of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Well done to this week’s star for shining brightly and setting a wonderful example for us all!

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week

At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Rights Respecting School information

Rights Respecting Article of the week:

Article of the week: Article  31 – Leisure, Play and Culture

Every child has the right to relax, play, and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities. This includes having time and safe spaces to play, opportunities to join clubs and groups, and access to arts, music, sport and community events.

Why it matters:

Article 31 matters because play and cultural experiences are essential for children’s wellbeing, development and happiness. Play helps children build confidence, creativity and social skills, while cultural activities allow them to explore their identity and learn about the world around them. When children do not have time to relax or access to safe places to play, their development can be limited. As a Rights Respecting School, encouraging play and celebrating culture supports children’s rights and helps create a school community where everyone can thrive.

Athome activity:

Create a “Play and Culture Planner” for your week at home. Include time for relaxing, outdoor play, games, reading, music, sport or cultural activities such as cooking a traditional recipe or watching a cultural performance online. Choose one activity from your planner and write a short paragraph or create a video explaining why it is important for your wellbeing and how it links to Article 31 and your school’s Rights Respecting work.
