Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week, we held our first Parent Consultation Evenings of the academic year. It has been wonderful to see so many of our parents engaging in this process. As you will agree, it is vital that the Home-School partnership is strong and positive for our children to grow and meet their potential while embracing the Avanti Way philosophy.

We look forward to seeing all of you next week to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights. This will be a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our purpose and service to others. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us:

"You have the right to perform your duties, but not to the fruits of your actions." (2:47)

This reminds us to focus on giving our best each day with dedication and care, knowing that our efforts make a lasting difference, even when we do not see the impact immediately.

Thank you for your continued support.

With best wishes

Mrs. Dolby - Molson

Important Reminder : Secondary School Admissions

Current Y6 parents

If your child is due to start at secondary school from August 2027, it's time to apply for a secondary school place. Applications can be made online at School admissions | Leicester City Council and will need to be submitted by no later than 31 October 2026.  If you apply after this date, your application will be considered as late, and you may lose out on your choice of school.

Please take the time to read the information provided on the admissions website as you can find details of all schools along with other important information including your catchment school.

You may prefer for your child to attend a school outside of your catchment area and you have the right to list any secondary schools on your application. However, we strongly recommend that you use all four preferences available to you and include your catchment area school in your application.  You will receive priority for a place there and it means that you increase your chances of securing a place at a local school if all of your higher preferred schools are full.

 Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Krishna Avanti is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Reception

Reception children have been learning about Diwali and sequencing the story of Rama and Sita, developing their understanding of celebrations and storytelling.

Year 1

Year 1 children have written some lovely pieces of work on the story of Rama and Sita !

Year 2

In Year 2 the children have been learning about plants and animals in Science. They have been making careful observations of what they noticed about plants. As well as this they have learnt about food chains – producers, primary consumers and secondary consumers.

Year 3

As part of their PRE curriculum, Year 3 had the pleasure of visiting a mosque. As part of the visit, they learnt about the Islamic faith and had a tour of the mosque.

Year 4

In PE, the children have been focusing on developing their ball skills. They have been kicking and controlling the ball, while also working on their coordination and balance.

Year 5

Year 5 are preparing their battle scene as part of their retelling of the Ramayana.

Year 6

Last Friday, Year 6 visited Beaumanor Hall to learn about life during World War II. We discovered how children were evacuated, learned about rationing, explored how Britain decoded German messages, and experienced what it was like to shelter during bombing raids. We enjoyed learning about this important period in history.

Star of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Well done to this week’s star for shining brightly and setting a wonderful example for us all!

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week

At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Rights Respecting Article of the week:

Article 17- Every child has the right to reliable information from a variety of sources, and governments should encourage the media to provide information that children can understand.

Activity: Local libraries are brilliant places to find out new things. Does everyone have a library card they can use to access books? Plan a trip to your local library, linked to Article 17, and focus on the non-fiction books that they have available for you to look at and borrow. How can you encourage others to join the library?

Rights and Respecting Heroes of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who demonstrates our Rights Respecting Virtues by showing integrity, respect, self-discipline, courage, gratitude and empathy. This recognition celebrates children who understand their rights and help to make sure the rights of others are respected too.
