attendance
At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we place a high value on excellent attendance and punctuality, and we hope that parents and carers share this commitment.
Good attendance and punctuality significantly increase your child’s chances of success, while poor attendance can negatively impact their academic progress and personal development.

We strive to make our school a consistently welcoming and nurturing environment that supports learning at every stage. However, we recognise that some children may occasionally find school challenging and may not always feel like attending. We're here to work with families in such situations to ensure every child feels supported.
This section provides key information and frequently asked questions about attendance. If you cannot find what you're looking for, please contact our Attendance Team at attendance.afl@avanti.org.uk.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is attendance important?
At Krishna Avanti Primary School, learning is fast-paced and intentional. Missing even a few days can disrupt a child’s understanding and progress. While we support pupils in catching up, persistent absence may limit your child’s ability to reach their full potential.
When does my child need to be in school?
Primary:
-
The school day begins at 8:00am
-
Arrival time: between 7:45am – 7:55am
-
A free breakfast club runs from 7:30am, providing a calm and sociable start to the day with activities like drawing, puzzles, and games.
If a pupil arrives after registration has closed, they will be marked with a ‘U’ code, which counts as an unauthorised absence.
What happens if my child is late?
Even arriving a few minutes late can cause a disrupted and unsettled start to the school day.
-
Primary: Pupils arriving after 8:00am must wait in reception with a parent until 8:10am and will be escorted to class by a staff member.
What if my child needs to be absent from school?
We understand that illness happens. However, please consider whether your child is well enough to attend before keeping them home.
-
Report absences by emailing kapsleicester@avanti.org.uk by 8:00am on each day of absence.
-
We may request medical evidence to authorise the absence.
-
Unexplained or unsatisfactory reasons for absence will result in the absence being recorded as unauthorised.
If we are concerned about your child’s attendance or punctuality, we will contact you to discuss the best way forward. Ongoing unauthorised absences may lead to a referral to the Local Authority.
