Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to welcome you and your children back to the Summer term. We hope you had a restful holiday and enjoyed some of the warmer weather.  It has been a wonderful start to the new term, and the children have returned with such enthusiasm and energy—it truly sets a positive tone for the months ahead.

This week we welcomed Jungle Jo who bought some amazing creatures to share with the children and the adults. Our Y3 children had a fabulous time at Avanti Fields preparing for our singing show. They were amazing - parents you are in for treat.  Y3 also went to Jewry Wall museum. Moments like these not only enrich their learning but also help instil a love for the arts and nature.

As we begin this new term, we continue to live and learn through the Avanti Way, nurturing curiosity, respect, and joy in every aspect of school life. The start of a new term is a perfect time for fresh beginnings, growth, and new experiences. As Lord Krishna reminds us, “Whatever happened, happened for the good. Whatever is happening, is happening for the good. Whatever will happen, will also happen for the good.”

We look forward to a term filled with learning, discovery, and memorable moments for all our children. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a vibrant and nurturing community.

Warm regards,

 Mrs Dolby- Molson

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Krishna Avanti is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Reception

Reception children had a fantastic time at the ISKON temple. They retold special stories and wrote a letter to Krishna.

Year 1

Year 1 enjoyed learning about different bugs and minibeasts today. They showed a lot of courage touching and holding the animals!

Year 2

Year 2 have enjoyed walking/jogging for our daily mile. It has been a good brain break in between lessons.

Year 3

It has been a busy week for Year 3.  They spent a day at Avanti Fields rehearsing for their Earth Day performance and had a wonderful time at Jewry Wall museum studying the life of Romans in Ratea (Leicester).

Year 4

Year 4 have made a start on their sewing projects for DT and have shown great resilience throughout the process.

Year 5

Year 5 have been busy exploring the perimeter of 2D shapes this week. The children have calculated perimeters using different standard units of measurement and they have successfully explored and worked out missing lengths in rectilinear shapes too.

Year 5 also began reading their new class book, Five children and it. This is a delightful story about siblings who discover a magical creature who grants them one wish a day.

Year 6

Year 6 spent their PE lesson this week preparing for Sports day. The children practiced their relay, 80-metre and cross-country sprints.

Star of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Well done to this week’s star for shining brightly and setting a wonderful example for us all!

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week

At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Rights Respecting School information

Rights Respecting Article of the week:

🌺 Freedom of Speech & Belief – Article 14

(Linked to Remembrance Day)

Every child has the right to think and believe what they choose and to practise their religion, as long as this does not stop others from enjoying their rights. Governments must also respect the role of parents in guiding children as they grow.

This links to Remembrance Day, when we honour those who have worked — and still work — to protect freedom, peace, and human rights.

Why it matters:

  • Everyone has the freedom to think and believe

  • Different beliefs should be respected

  • Rights come with responsibilities

At-home activity:

List as many religions as you can. Can you find or draw symbols linked to them? Children could create a small display to share in school.
