Head of Primary's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take a moment to share how incredibly proud I am of our Year 3 pupils, who recently took part in a cross-village collaborative singing performance. This special event, centred around Earth Day, highlighted the importance of caring for our world and showing compassion towards all living beings.
Our pupils demonstrated remarkable courage in performing in front of a wider audience, and their commitment to learning and mastering such challenging songs was truly inspiring. They embodied our school values and the Avanti Way, showing not only musical talent but also deep thoughtfulness about the message behind their performance. It was a joy to see them grow in confidence and pride.
I would also like to reflect on the many wonderful trips our children have experienced so far this term. From our Reception children’s exciting visit to the farm, to Year 1’s engaging trip to the Sea Life Centre and their visit to ISKCON, as well as the fantastic Jungle Jo experience. Our recent Y5 trip to London was truly magical with the children having the opportunity to see the coronation chair.
These experiences are invaluable in broadening our children’s horizons, enriching their understanding of the world, and sparking curiosity and joy in their learning. We are incredibly grateful that we are able to offer such opportunities and thank our staff for organising these and parental contributions to support. Thank you for enabling us to provide these enriching experiences for all of our pupils.
Next week our Y6 children will be busy with KS2 SATS and the following week our Year 2 pupils will be completing their KS1 SATs. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them the very best of luck. These assessments are a wonderful chance for children to showcase all that they have learned and the progress they have made. We encourage our pupils to approach them with confidence and a positive mindset, seeing them as an opportunity to celebrate their achievements. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and resilience, and we know they will do their very best.
You may remember we requested back in the Autumn term for parent champions- thank you to the parents who came forward to support the school. Our parent champions are now well established and are supporting school with direct communication to you with reminders for events and updates, to enable you to keep up to date with school life. Some year groups have 2 parent champions. If you do not know who your parent champion is, please find below the details. If you are not sure who this parent is, please ask the class teachers, who would be happy to support you.
If you would wish to be part of the What's app group for your year group, please let them know and they will add your details to the group.

PTFA
Dear Parents,
CAN YOU HELP US ? WE NEED YOU !
KAPS Leicester is putting together a PTFA (parents, teachers and friends association) which we hope to start in the new academic year.
We envisage our PTFA as committed and valued support to our school community; helping to organise fun, spirited initiatives that reflect our school ethos and give back to our wonderful school. Funds raised will go directly back into the school to provide resources and further enhance learning for our children.
If you are interested in finding out more or joining the PTFA, an initial AGM will be held on the 10th June 2026 at 2.00pm at school.
We would love to see as many parents as possible who are interested in getting involved, whether on an ad hoc basis or in a more regular role. Whatever time you are able to give will be greatly valued.
There are a number of positions we need to make our PTFA successful, both lead and support roles, including Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-Chair, Vice-Treasurer and Communications Officer. These roles, along with other formalities, will be discussed further at the AGM. The location will be confirmed nearer the time.
Let’s get KAPS Leicester PTFA up and running!
Please use the school email (kapsleicester@avanti.org.uk) for any enquiries or speak to your year group parent champions for more information.
Magical Moments
Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Krishna Avanti is all about.
We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!
Reception | Reception children had a fantastic trip to the farm, learning about different animals and enjoying hands-on experiences. | ![]() |
Year 1 | Year 1 have been learning about maps in geography. This week they drew a map of the Sea Life Centre from their recent trip and a map from their classroom to the headteachers office. | ![]() |
Year 2 | Year 2 enjoyed their gymnastics session engaging in balance and tuck jumps. | ![]() |
Year 3 | Y3 have been designing healthy food plates and leanring what makes food helathy and unhealthy. | ![]() |
Year 4 | Year 4 have been exploring logo commands on Purple Mash using simple instructions like forward, back, left, right and repeat to create shapes and patterns. They showed great creativity while programming.

Year 5 | Year 5 travelled to London earlier this week to visit Westminster Abbey and the Natural History Museum. They had a brilliant time exploring both venues. It was interesting to see all the artefacts needed to become a monarch! | ![]() |
Year 6 | Year 6 have been immersing themselves in the world of Oliver Twist this week, using the classic text as inspiration for their own narrative writing. The children worked hard to create tense and atmospheric scenes, carefully selecting ambitious vocabulary, varied sentence structures and descriptive language to engage the reader. We were incredibly impressed by their creativity, resilience and maturity as writers - many pieces truly captured the emotion and drama of Victorian London! | ![]() |
Celebrating KAPS
Year 5 visit to London.
Earlier this week, Year 5 travelled to London to visit Westminster Abbey and the Natural History Museum.
Westminster Abbey
The children explored the building thoroughly and discovered the importance of royal ceremonies held there such as coronations, weddings and funerals. Our guides explained the importance of the Abbey as a place of Christian Faith and Worship. Looking upwards, we could see that the ceiling clearly shows that the building was constructed in the shape of a cross – one of the symbols of Christianity.
The guides were amazing and allowed the children access to areas that visitors are not allowed to visit, such as the Quire (the choir stalls). We were able to look closely at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior with its surround of red poppies. Whilst there, one of our pupils was able to light a candle for our school. What an amazing opportunity!
The Natural History Museum
During the day, we were able to visit the Natural History Museum too. Many of Year 5 were excited to see the dinosaur skeleton as we entered the grounds and wondered what treats there were in store as we entered the museum.
The children loved looking around the galleries – not all were possible to visit in our limited time there. Dinosaurs seemed to follow us everywhere! Many of the children who had not visited the Natural History Museum before are keen to go back in the summer holidays and find out more about the world in which they live.
The adults were so impressed by the children’s behaviour during the day - their beautiful manners were noted by other adults whilst we were out and about! What a wonderful experience for us all.
Sports Day

We would like to thank all parents and guardians for joining us on both Sports Days and helping to make the events such a wonderful success. The afternoons were filled with energy, excitement, and wonderful displays of teamwork and perseverance from our children. The encouragement and support from families created an exciting and uplifting atmosphere for everyone involved. A special well done to all the Key Stage 2 children who participated in the competitions! The children especially enjoyed cheering on the parent race, which brought lots of laughter and excitement to the start of the events. We were also incredibly lucky to enjoy the sunshine, which made the afternoons even more special.
Star of the week
Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.
Well done to this week’s star for shining brightly and setting a wonderful example for us all!

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week
At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Rights Respecting Article of the week:
World Day Against Child Labour – Article 32 and 35
The World Day Against Child Labour is important because it raises awareness about children who are forced to work instead of going to school and living safely.
Why it matters:
It reminds people that child labour is harmful and goes against children’s rights. For example, Article 32 protects children from dangerous work, and Article 35 protects them from being trafficked or exploited. This day encourages everyone to help protect children and ensure they have a safe and healthy future.
At-home activity:
World Day Against Child Labour brings together Governments, employers and individuals to highlight what can be done to help children who are working in negative situations. Read about some of the previous campaigns. How can you raise awareness of child labour in your community?
