Parent's Bulletin 06.02.2026

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the final week of Spring 1, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the growth we have seen in our children. Over the past weeks, they have shown resilience, curiosity, and a genuine eagerness to learn from one another. Every shared idea, kind action, and moment of collaboration has helped our school community to grow stronger together.

It has been especially lovely to welcome so many parents into school to engage with our ‘We Are Mathematicians’ week. Seeing families learning together and celebrating the joy of maths has been a real highlight. We want all of our pupils to strive and recognise themselves as mathematicians, geographers, writers, readers, artists and so much more. These focused subject weeks are designed to inspire curiosity and confidence, and we hope this experience has helped to revitalise your child’s excitement for maths. We also hope this sense of wonder can continue to grow at home through shared exploration and playful problem-solving.

Learning from others is a powerful part of the Avanti Way. By listening, showing respect, and supporting one another, our children are developing not only academically but also socially and emotionally.

As the first signs of spring begin to appear around us, we are reminded that growth often happens quietly and steadily, just like buds on trees and flowers beginning to bloom. In the words of Lord Krishna, “Just as a flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms,” reminding us that each child grows in their own time and in their own way.

We are proud of all that the children have achieved this half term and look forward to seeing how they continue to flourish as we head towards the half-way mark of the academic year.

Warm regards,

 Ms A Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Krishna Avanti is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Reception

Reception children enjoyed solving problems during our Stay and Count workshop. A huge thank you to all that attended!

Year 1

Year 1 have been developing their art skills by using different textures and then printing colours on top.

Year 2

Year 2 have been exploring different textures and fabrics in D&T. They have designed their own ‘patchworks’ before they begin their sewing!

Year 3

We are learning about forces in Year 3 and using a force meter to lift different objects.

Year 4

Year 4 have enjoyed a thoughtful time of reflection in PRE, exploring different ways people connect with the Divine and how this can look across different faiths. They shared respectful discussions and showed curiosity and understanding as they learned about a range of beliefs and practices.

Year 5

In PRE, Year 5 have been considering what an ideal society should look like. They had some fantastic ideas such as affordable homes, kindness and honesty and sufficient food and water for everyone, which beautifully demonstrates how they are developing into considerate and caring human beings.

Year 6

Year 6 enjoyed an engaging science lesson exploring reflection and investigating coloured filters. The pupils made predictions and carried out practical investigations to understand how light behaves. They showed great enthusiasm and worked well together while developing their scientific knowledge.

 Enrichment Experiences – £15.00 Contribution

We have planned a number of special enrichment experiences for the children this year:  visits to the temple and a fun-filled pantomime experience, archery sessions, PSHE workshops from Coram scarf and further events. These opportunities are designed to broaden the children’s understanding of the world around them, spark curiosity, and, of course, create some wonderful memories along the way.

To help cover transport, and activity costs, we kindly ask for a £15.00 donation per child for the year. Your support makes it possible for us to offer these meaningful and exciting experiences, and we are always so grateful for the generosity of our families.

The payments will be open on Arbor from  23rd January at 4.00pm  to the  20th March 4:00pm.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of the team. We’re really looking forward to sharing these special days with the children.

Without the donations we may need to scale back what we can offer to our children.

Chess club: More spaces available

We are delighted that our chess club has been so popular this term. We are able to open up another 10 places for children to attend. This will be from Friday 27th February to Friday 27th March. If your child would like to join, then please book a place via ARBOR.

Please Note: Sign up will be open via Arbor from 2nd February 16:00 onwards.

Thank you to our volunteers for the support and dedication they show to our children

Birthday Treats – Parent Reminder

As a school, we aim to ensure that birthday celebrations are inclusive and in line with our school ethos. For this reason, only the following chocolate items are permitted for birthday treats:

  • Twix

  • Dairy Milk

  • Maltesers

  • KitKat

  • Milky Bar (also permitted)

Please note that some children do not eat chocolate, so Milky Bar has been included. Stationery items (such as pencils, rubbers, or small notebooks) are also very welcome and often enjoyed by all pupils.

Thank you for your support in helping us celebrate birthdays in a way that is considerate and inclusive for everyone.

Star of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Well done to this week’s star for shining brightly and setting a wonderful example for us all!

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week

At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.

🌍Rights Respecting Article of the week: 💜 Respect for Children’s Views – Article 12

Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously. This right applies at all times, for example during immigration proceedings.

This week we focused on who respects children’s views. We spoke about how duty bearers have our best interests, and how they help us reach our full potential.

Why it matters:

When we include and respect everyone, our classrooms and communities become kinder and stronger.

At-home activity:  ☁️ Think about what your face looks like when you like something, when you don’t like something, or when you are scared or excited. Can you tell how someone else is feeling by looking at their facial expressions? How can we ‘hear’ people even when they don’t speak so that we can respect their views?

Reminders:

Children's Personal belongings - Name labelled

We would like to remind all families of the importance of clearly naming children’s personal belongings, including shoes, coats, and other items brought into school.

Labelling items helps us to quickly and accurately return belongings to their owners and reduces the likelihood of items being misplaced or taken home in error. We kindly ask that names are clearly visible and kept up to date, particularly on footwear and uniform items that may look similar.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep children’s belongings safe and organised.
