Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we have been celebrating our 15^th birthday and what a wonderful way to celebrate 15 years of our school community together!

Our anniversary celebration was a beautiful opportunity to come together as one community, and the weather was very kind. We shared in the joy and spirit of a Yagna and reflected on all that we have achieved together over the years. It was particularly special to see our children take centre stage, sharing a wonderfully diverse range of performances that showcased their creativity, confidence, talents and individuality.

A heartfelt thank you to all our staff for their incredible hard work, care and dedication to our children over the past 15 years. So much of what makes our school special is rooted in the commitment of our staff, who nurture, inspire and support our children every day. The virtues that our children live out daily to help them be the best version of themselves were on show.

Fifteen years is a wonderful milestone, and it is one that belongs to our whole community — our children, families, staff and everyone who has played a part in our journey.

A heartfelt thank you to all our special visitors, SSC and PTFA members who joined us in celebrating this wonderful milestone, and to our new EYFS families who helped make the afternoon especially memorable with a beautiful Yagna for our Reception children.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our anonymous sponsor, who generously gifted a copy of the Bhagavad Gita to every child in Reception. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated, and we hope these special gifts will inspire and guide our children for many years to come.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us and helped make the occasion so meaningful and special for our children.

Here’s to celebrating our past, cherishing our community in the present, and looking forward with excitement to the many wonderful years still to come.

Important Reminder : Parking on the School Site

We would like to kindly remind all parents and carers that there is no parking available for parents on the school site. We understand that drop-off and collection times can be busy, but it is important that we all work together to keep our school community safe and respectful of our neighbours. Please do not attempt to enter the school site.

School staff need to use the car park spaces outside to park for work. Those spaces are not available for parents.

We ask that parents and carers please park considerately and respectfully in the local area, being mindful of residents, pedestrians, access points and local parking restrictions. Please do not park in a way that blocks driveways, causes obstruction or makes it difficult for others to access their homes.

As an Avanti community, we ask everyone to live by the Avanti Way, particularly the values of integrity and self-discipline

This means making the right choice even when it may not be the easiest or most convenient one.

Thank you for your continued support, understanding and consideration for our school and the wider community. By working together, we can ensure that arrival and collection times remain safe, calm and respectful for everyone.

This week we have had a number of cases of inconsiderate parking by parents and carers, they have blocked staff in, blocked the exit gates, double parked and parked round where cones are places.

We are delighted to welcome you to our upcoming Open Evening — a fantastic opportunity to learn more about our school, meet our staff, and see what makes our community unique.

What’s Included in the Evening:

A presentation from the Principal and Head of Secondary, giving you key insights into our vision, values, and what you can expect from life at our school.
The opportunity to meet our teachers and staff across various departments, ask questions, and learn about our curriculum and support systems. opportunity to learn more about our school, meet our staff, and see what makes our community unique.
Important Information for Attendees:
- Booking: Please ensure you book 1 ticket only, in the name of the Year 7 applicant/student via Eventbrite. This ticket covers the student and 2 parents or guardians.
- Attendance Policy: To ensure we can accommodate all visitors safely and comfortably, we kindly request that only parents/guardians attends with the student. Extended family members will not be permitted to attend.
- Parking: Limited parking is available on-site. Additional parking can be found at Tesco Hamilton, which is within walking distance of the school.
- Arrival Time: Please arrive promptly at the time of your booked session, as late arrivals may miss key parts of the presentation or tour.

Snack Reminder : Fresh Fruit Only

A gentle reminder that children should bring fresh fruit only for their snack.

Please do not send fruit bars, cereal bars, Indian snacks, biscuits or other packaged snacks.

📚 Developing Our Reading Provision

We are continuing to develop our reading provision across school, with a particular focus on fostering a genuine love of reading and encouraging children to read for pleasure.

We are excited to be developing our Book Nook, creating a welcoming and inviting space where children can discover new books, explore different genres and authors and simply enjoy getting lost in a good story. We want reading to feel like something children choose to do because they love it, not just something they do because they have to.

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding new books and resources to the Book Nook and working with our children to help shape it into a space that reflects their interests and encourages them to become enthusiastic, lifelong readers.

We look forward to sharing the Book Nook with you as it develops! 📖✨

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week

At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Rights Respecting Article of the week:

Article 12: Respect for Children's Views 

Article 12 reminds us that every child has the right to express their thoughts, feelings, and opinions on matters that affect them. Adults should listen carefully and take children's views seriously, considering their age and understanding. 

As we learn about this Article, we can understand that our voices matter. Children should be given opportunities to share their ideas, and they should also listen respectfully to the views of others. 

Why it's important: 

It helps children understand that their opinions matter. 
It encourages children to speak confidently and respectfully. 
It teaches children to listen to and value the views of others. 
It helps children develop decision-making and communication skills. 
Learning to share ideas and listen to others helps children become active and responsible citizens.

At Home Activity: 

Create a "My Voice Matters" Speech Bubble 

Draw and cut out a large speech bubble on a piece of paper. 
Inside the speech bubble, write or draw things that are important to you, such as your favourite activities, ideas for making school better, ways to help others, or things that make you happy. 
In the centre of the speech bubble, write:

"My voice matters, and I can share my views respectfully." 

Talk together about times when children can share their opinions at home, school, and in the community. 
Discuss why it is important to listen carefully when someone else is speaking and how everyone benefits when different ideas are heard.

Challenge: 

Decorate your speech bubble with colours, pictures, or symbols that represent your interests, talents, and personality. Remember that every child has the right to be heard, and everyone should listen to others with respect and kindness.

PTFA Updates

Get ready for Navratri! 🎉

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We’re excited to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Navratri at Krishna Avanti Primary School!

The Krishna Avanti Primary School PTFA is delighted to invite our students to a fun and energetic Kids Garba Workshop, where children will have the opportunity to learn traditional Garba steps, rhythm and movements while enjoying the joy, energy and spirit of Navratri. 💃🕺

But that’s not all! 🎨 As part of the workshop, children will also get creative with a fun and colourful arts & crafts activity.

We can’t wait to see the children getting involved, having lots of fun and celebrating Navratri together as a school community! 🎉
