Parent's Bulletin 15.05.2026

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to start by thanking our Y6 children,  who have worked so hard all week with their SATS.  We are all incredibly proud of all the children’s hard work and resilience during the preparation for these assessments and during the week itself. As parents we would like to thank you for the work you have been doing at home to prepare the children and to the Y6 team of Miss Hartley, Mrs Dullabh and Mrs Kapoor for the dedication they have shown to supporting the children.

Next week Y2 begin their SATS it is an opportunity for the Year 2 children to showcase what they have learnt in Key Stage 1 and the progress they have made. With a confident and positive mindset, the children will do well next week.

We have our Town Hall event next week on 19th May - please do vote to let us know which topics you would most value a discussion about. We look forward to welcoming you to the sports hall at 2.45pm.

We also have our Holi celebration from 2pm on Wednesday 20th May. You are most welcome to come and join with us.  Sign up was on Arbor, for the previous date. We hope the weather will be kind to us. Please be reminded that phones should not be used on the school site for taking pictures of the children. This is because not all parents have given photo consent.

Finally, I would like to remind you that school will be closed from Monday 25th May to Friday 29th May for the Half- Term holiday. We will also be having our staff training day on Monday 1st June; hence, school will be closed to the children on that day. We look forward to welcoming them back on Tuesday 2nd June.

Once again, thank you for your continued support with your child or children’s learning.

 Warm regards,

Mrs. Dolby - Molson

  PTFA

Dear Parents,

CAN YOU HELP US ? WE NEED YOU !

KAPS Leicester is putting together a PTFA (parents, teachers and friends association) which we hope to start in the new academic year.

We envisage our PTFA as committed and valued support to our school community; helping to organise fun, spirited initiatives that reflect our school ethos and give back to our wonderful school. Funds raised will go directly back into the school to provide resources and further enhance learning for our children.

If you are interested in finding out more or joining the PTFA, an initial AGM will be held on the 10th June 2026 at 2.00pm at school.

We would love to see as many parents as possible who are interested in getting involved, whether on an ad hoc basis or in a more regular role. Whatever time you are able to give will be greatly valued.

There are a number of positions  we need to make our PTFA successful, both lead and support roles, including Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-Chair, Vice-Treasurer and Communications Officer. These roles, along with other formalities, will be discussed further at the AGM. The location will be confirmed nearer the time.

Let’s get KAPS Leicester PTFA up and running!

Please use the school email (kapsleicester@avanti.org.uk) for any enquiries or speak to your year group parent champions for more information.

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Krishna Avanti is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Reception

Reception children explored mixed media to design and create their own colourful flowers, using a variety of materials and techniques to develop their creativity and fine motor skills.

Year 1

Year 1 enjoyed practising different skills to pass the ball using their hands and then their feet.

Year 2

Year 2 enjoyed their D&T Food Workshop and using their senses to guess certain fruits and vegetables. They then printed patterns using vegetables.

Year 3

In Science, Year 3 have been learning about how water travels up plants. They did an experiment using dyes and roses. By the end of the experiment, they noticed that the roses changed their colours to that of the dye.

Year 4

Year 4 had a fun Science lesson where they explored electricity in circuits. The children investigated how circuits work by adding more bulbs, batteries and a motor to observe the changes in brightness and sound.

Year 5

Our children are so fortunate to be able to have Sanskrit lessons. Year 5 are practising their translation skills today. Their writing and understanding of Sanskrit is fantastic thanks to the amazing Mrs Vyas!

Year 6

After a week of hard work, determination, and resilience during SATs, Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed letting off some steam in their PE games sessions! It was wonderful to see the children smiling, laughing, and working together as teams after all their efforts in the tests. We are incredibly proud of their positive attitudes, perseverance, and the maturity they have shown throughout the week

Celebrating KAPS

Sir David Attenborough's 100th Birthday celebration

On Friday 8th May, we enjoyed celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday by having a special online assembly where we joined with other schools across the country to think about the message of caring for our planet and what we can do in our school, our community and at home.

Achievement updates : Poems

Well done to these Year 4 children in Shyam for their outstanding poems, which have been chosen for publication in a Young Writers Anthology! This is a fantastic achievement that reflects their imagination, effort and love of writing. We are incredibly proud of their creativity and the way they have expressed themselves through poetry. Their work truly stands out and being selected for publication is a wonderful recognition of their talent and hard work.

Leicester city Council Consultation updates: (online Survey)

Following the recent press release issued by Leicester City Council, a formal consultation will launch on 5 May 2026 and run until 12 June 2026, seeking views on proposed term dates for future academic years.

This provides an important opportunity for schools and stakeholders to help shape a term date pattern that supports pupils, families, and staff across the city. We are proposing two models, both of which retain a mid-July end to the academic year but differ in asking if a 1 week or two-week Autumn half-term holiday would be preferred.

Star of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Well done to this week’s star for shining brightly and setting a wonderful example for us all!

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week

At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Rights Respecting Article of the week:

World Day Against Child Labour – Article 32 and 35

The World Day Against Child Labour is important because it raises awareness about children who are forced to work instead of going to school and living safely.

Why it matters:

It reminds people that child labour is harmful and goes against children’s rights. For example, Article 32 protects children from dangerous work, and Article 35 protects them from being trafficked or exploited. This day encourages everyone to help protect children and ensure they have a safe and healthy future.

At-home activity:

World Day Against Child Labour brings together Governments, employers and individuals to highlight what can be done to help children who are working in negative situations.  Read about some of the previous campaigns.  How can you raise awareness of child labour in your community?
