Parent's Bulletin 23.01.2026

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

 Attendance and Working in Partnership

Thank you to all who attended our recent Parents’ Evening. Your time, commitment, and engagement mean a great deal to us and make a real difference to your child’s learning and wellbeing.

Strong attendance at school is vital. Every day in school helps children build confidence, develop friendships, and make steady progress in their learning. When children attend regularly and arrive on time, they are better able to fully access lessons and feel secure as part of the school community.

Working in partnership with families is at the heart of the Avanti Way. By sharing information, celebrating successes, and addressing any concerns together, we create the best possible environment for children to thrive. Your support strengthens the positive link between home and school, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us.

Staff Updates

Congratulations !

We are delighted to share with you that Mrs Hanif has had her baby this week on 19th January. Baby Musa arrived a little early weighing 7.5lbs. We send our love to Mrs Hanif and her family at this joyous time

Thank you for continuing to work alongside us to give every child the very best start in their learning journey.

Warm regards,

 Ms A Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Krishna Avanti is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Reception

Reception children explored mass through hands-on play across the provision, using balance scales, containers, and everyday objects. They compared heavy and light items, tested their ideas by adding and removing objects, and talked about what they noticed.

Year 1

Year 1 have been learning how to print on paper using primary colours and different objects.

Year 2

Year 2 have been busy practising their editing skills and making their Big Write even better by adding exciting verbs and descriptive adjectives.

Year 3

Year 3 have been working on their fast maths skills and are getting better at working through division problems using partitioning. Well done for using LBQ to support their learning.

Year 4

Year 4 practised dribbling and developed their footwork skills in PE this week. The focus was on improving control, coordination, and confidence while moving with the ball through a range of fun and challenging activities.

Year 5

Year 5 have been busy exploring multiplication and division in Maths. We are now able to multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number with confidence. Look at how well we have done!  Year 5 have been busy exploring multiplication and division in Maths. We are now able to multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number with confidence. 🔢 We Are Mathematicians Week – February 2026

We are excited to be celebrating We Are Mathematicians Week in school, filled with fun, engaging activities that inspire a love of numbers and problem-solving.

The week will begin with a launch assembly, followed by competitions and creative dress-up activities to bring maths to life.

Parents and carers are warmly invited to join our “Stay and Count” sessions, where you can spend time in class taking part in maths activities with your child:

  • 3rd February- Y1 & Y4 stay and count 1:50 – 2:20pm

The week will end with NSPCC Number Day on 6th February, when children are invited to come to school dressed as rock stars with a number or mathematical theme. This year, we are combining the Times Table Rock Stars theme with Number Day — so let the creativity begin!

We kindly ask each child to bring £1 as a donation to support the NSPCC on this day.

We look forward to a fantastic week of maths fun and learning!

Enrichment Experiences – £15.00 Contribution

We have planned a number of special enrichment experiences for the children this year:  visits to the temple and a fun-filled pantomime experience, archery sessions, PSHE workshops from Coram scarf and further events. These opportunities are designed to broaden the children’s understanding of the world around them, spark curiosity, and, of course, create some wonderful memories along the way.

To help cover transport, and activity costs, we kindly ask for a £15.00 donation per child for the year. Your support makes it possible for us to offer these meaningful and exciting experiences, and we are always so grateful for the generosity of our families.

The payments will be open on Arbor from  23rd January at 4.00pm  to the  20th March 4:00pm.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of the team. We’re really looking forward to sharing these special days with the children.

Without the donations we may need to scale back what we can offer to our children.

PSHE- Keeping Myself Safe

This half-term, our PSHE unit is Keeping Myself Safe.

This unit encourages children to think about safety — in everyday life and online — and how to look after their health and wellbeing. Topics might include understanding boundaries, asking for help, recognising risks, and making safe choices.

Parent prompt: “What are some safe or unsafe situations - at home or elsewhere - that you can think of?”

Discussion question: “Who are the adults you would talk to if something made you feel unsafe and why is that important?”

Thank you

PSHE team

Star of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Well done to this week’s star for shining brightly and setting a wonderful example for us all!

Rights Respecting at Home: Article of the Week

At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding the rights of every child. It is important that children understand their rights because it helps them to feel valued, safe, and empowered to reach their full potential.

🌍 Mental Health Awareness Week – Article 24

Mental Health Awareness Week occurs every year in May and is an ideal time for us all to think about mental health, tackle stigma, and discuss how we can create school environments that protect our mental wellbeing.

Why it matters:

  • When we understand our rights, we can speak up kindly, make good choices, and help create a fair and caring world for everyone.

At-home activity:  Helping others and being kind can make us feel happier. Make a 'thank you' card for someone you know to surprise them or make a ‘thank you’ chart or ‘tree’ for your class and ask everyone to put messages onto it. It’s the job of duty bearers to make sure you get all your rights but it’s good to thank them!
