Welcome to Year 3
Sun and Moon
Links between home and school, alongside a positive working relationship between staff and families, can make a hugely positive impact on your child’s progress.
Please work with us to give your child the very best start in life.
The three Year 3 teachers for the 2016-2017 academic year are:
Homework will be uploaded to this page each Friday and is to be handed in by the following Wednesday for it to be marked.
Homework is an important part of school life but it should not be taking over life out of school!
At Krishna Avanti Primary School we expect the children to come to school and work hard. As long as they do that they should be able to go home and do a little homework each week (up to one hour) and enjoy being a child – playing and learning other things through play! Some children do of course really enjoy writing and doing mathematics and other ‘academic’ things and in these instances, they may wish to spend hours and hours studying and doing homework.
If your child has worked hard at school, any homework given that takes more than one hour may be left (if you so wish). In addition to the homework, children will have spellings to learn, books to read and times-tables to learn.
Just a reminder for all children to challenge themselves to read for 10 minutes day and fill in the chart.
Remember its a competition for which class is reading the most and there is a reward at the end when chart is complete.
To create a Maths hat. Be as creative as possible. Have a look at 'google' for ideas. This is a whole school competition for the best maths poem.
Reading - We are still continuing with our reading challenge so please ensure children read everyday for at least 10 mins and sign the sheets. This is a whole school challenge to gain the most reading miles.
Reading books will be changed on Mondays. Please ensure that your child's reading record is signed in order for their books to be changed. Reading books still need to be brought in to school everyday!
Spellings will be given every Friday to learn at home. We will be testing you on these spellings every Thursday. Your book will then be sent home so your parents can see how well you did, and they will have the new spellings inside them. Please don't write in your spelling book at home.
PE is on Tuesdays (outdoor) and Fridays (indoor). All children must have their PE kits in school and wear appropriate clothing during the lessons, including their house tee-shirt. Year 3 also swim on a Friday.
Jewellery is not permitted! Any jewellery which is not removed must be taped up.
All classes will need their indoor Physical Education kit each Thursday for yoga. Children may keep their indoor P.E kits at school throughout the school term.
Please make yourself familiar with the school Physical Education Policy.
Water bottles must be brought to school every day - keeping hydrated helps concentration and learning.
